Landon Hosto – Director of Photography

Landon Picture

Landon Hosto started his path out in the art world as a painter trying to hone his craft at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. It was there though that a different medium caught his attention and excited him so much as to change schools to Columbia College (just down the road) where a film program that gave learning through experience rather than theory was the norm. After graduating from Columbia in Cinematography, Landon shot his first feature called "Urban Ground Squirrels". It was a 35mm feature shot over 3 weeks with a crew of about 12. This film started his career in Chicago shooting regional commercials, music videos, corporate videos and also working on bigger commercials as an electrician/ or gaffer. He took a couple years off of the business to "live life" and traveled to South Korea where he lived for about 2 years eventually teaching English to business men, and little kids at a school. Upon his return 9/11 happened to our country and not only left a mark on each person's psyche but also turned the film business in Chicago south. With very little work left in Chicago Landon ventured out to L.A. and within a few years here is shooting pilots for Fox, some music videos, a slew of short films, and yes some reality as well. Dane Cook's "Tourgasm" being the most noteworthy on HBO. Landon has plans to shoot a feature in the upcoming months and hopes to shoot many many more.
